I am in love with Greg’s beautiful music and short films.

Hardcore funk fusion is not normally my thing, but after having picked up my jaw from watching “Impact Fuze” play “Moscow” from their debut album I must admit the genre has its virtues.

I simply cannot stop watching this – amazing vibe, musicianship and really really uberleet songwriting skills going on here – and the video is beautifully matched to the feel of the song!

If there is any justice in the world, these boys are in for a very bright future – and amidst all the Justin Biebers and the Katy Perry’s, its heart warming to see that really good musicians never go out of style.

Needed some video to try out capturing video and audio from my Zoom Q3HD recorder, so did some quick noodling on the Fender Deluxe.

I don’t know if its the Youtube conversion or the recorder, but I’m not super happy with the frame rate or the quality, even though its HD’s its still not real “High Def” in my oppinion – I’ll have to try tuning it a bit in future recordings.

The “cathedral-verb” is just my Laney VC 15 amps built-in spring combined with my Diamond Memory Lane Jr delays natural ambience – apologies for the frequently overloaded mic.

World IPv6 launch day is coming.

OSX’s Spotlight daemon ‘mdworker’ is even worse than Microsofts ‘explorer’ at calculating the ETA for its operations.

Last night I got the familiar “churning of little disk heads and blowing of hot air from CPU fans” sound from the 13″ Macbook Pro, and just as I expected – ‘mdworker’ was using up both cores for indexing.

Quick look at the Spotlight menubar item and I decided to go to bed rather than wait 3 years for my nicely indexed results!

Just as I was about to close the lid on the MBP – the fans slowed down and the disks and cores were released and tadah – no more ‘mdworker’ CPU hogging – and the Spotlight search entry form was happily ready to serve indexes again.

Computing is hard – even for computers I guess

I reinstalled my trusty workhorse 13″ Macbook Pro recently (some buggy kernel extensions got the better of it).

Once I got the OS up and running again and data restored from backup, all ssh server connects from the Terminal had a 20 second delay upon initial connect.

Hmm – appareantly I had forgotten to backup some customization tricks from my last ssh config!

Putting the below lines in my ~/.ssh/config fixed the annoying connect delay:

Host *
GSSAPIAuthentication no
GSSAPIKeyExchange no
AddressFamily inet


I only use SSH private/public keys to authenticate to my remote servers, so no GSSAPI extensions were needed, the last line keeps the OpenSSH client from attempting a IPv6 connection to the remote host.

Heureka – no more delay and happy ssh’ing once again!

iCal got a design upgrade in the latest incarnation of Apple’s big cats and while I’ve always thought the OSX calendar was very cleanly designed, the UI folks at Infinite Loop 1 musta been drinking the wrong Kool-Aid when they made this up.

That good ol’ cowhide skin may look good under your coffee table or maybe even have a slight appeal on your full-screen HD iPad view, but on my MacBook Pro, it sticks out like an F# in a G minor blues.

Beautiful human being that he is, MacNix comes to the rescue, with a pain-free way to replace that unsightly animal hide binding with a cool-Luke approved aluminium framing.

Gotta give the man some props.
